Christmas Tree and Belen Lighting 2008
“Let’s light our Christmas tree
For a bright tomorrow
With one big joyful voice
Proclaim the name of the Lord”
Christmas tree lighting ceremony has always been a practice and a tradition that the Anaoeños await during yuletide season way back into Mayor Apuan’s term.
December 15, 2008 - This year’s Christmas Tree Lighting is really different from the previous years’. Not the usual lighting where a family or the mayor leads the lighting but in no ordinary way, three titans lit the Christmas tree. Myths and legends would always tell us that titans clash. Well, not this time, not in the season of Christmas.
What a nice picture of unity seeing the former mayors, Hon. Clemente T. Apuan and Hon. Rodolfo. F. Guerrero with Honorable Mayor Edgardo S. Felipe lighting the Christmas Tree. Mayor Apuan first lit the tree’s framework while Ma’am Cristina A. Dugay, one of the emcees of the program, explains the beginning of the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting during Mayor Apuan’s term. The colorful stars surrounding tree were lighted by Mayor Guerrero. While doing the lighting, Mr. Romeo A. Damaso, also one of the emcees, tells that the colorful stars surrounding the trees symbolizes the flamboyant celebration of the Christmas tree lighting during his term. Mayor Felipe did the honor of lighting the star on the top of the tree which symbolizes the star that led the wise men to Jesus. Like the star, he and the LGU, will serve as stars to the constituents guiding them in their quest for development.
Christmas ornaments were also hung by the SB Members led by Hon. Alberto P. Obena Sr., Barangay Captains and the school heads.
Mayor Felipe wanted the celebration be simple focusing on unity, love and sharing and more of a tribute and thanksgiving to the past administrations’ efforts in the becoming of Anao.
The two mayors gave their Christmas message. Gov. Yap also gave his message through his representative.
Unity really prevailed the night and even more felt as the ministers of the 3 churches, the ICFC, IFI and RC, blessed the Belen which has been the entry of the municipality in Belenismo program of the provincial government.
Enchanting performances inspired by the season added into the night’s gaiety where the tandem of San Roque-Suaverdez outstand and emerge as winner. DepEd-Secondary and Rizal-San Juan won the 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2009 and “may the spirit of Christmas be always in our hearts”.
