“Service above self” has been Mayor Edgar's consistent principle in life. No wonder, he propelled to become what he is because of his sincerity and commitment to reach out to his people from all walks of life. Mayor Edgardo S. Felipe is not a tenderfoot in public administration. At a young age, he was exposed to the rudiments of politics which put him where he is today. His rich experiences have ripened him into one of the youngest mayors in the country. Mayor Felipe was born on September 5, 1963 in Anao, Tarlac to Mr. Rogelio B. Felipe Sr., former Sanitation Inspector, and the late Mrs. Estrellita L. Santiago. He is the second child in the brood of six.
Mayor Felipe spent his elementary years at the Anao Central Elementary School and graduated in 1975. He finished his secondary schooling at Anao Barangay High School in 1979. It was at the Dr. Nicanor Reyes Memorial Colleges in Paniqui, Tarlac where he took Bachelor of Science in Commerce and graduated in 1984. He also earned units in Masters in Public Administration at the Tarlac State University. If his life is wonderful, it is because he is happily married to the former Jeana Lapurga from San Jose North, Anao, Tarlac. Their union is blessed with three equally smart children; Elle Anne Jurielle, a college student, John Edward, a high school student, and Justine Eldrich, a Prep pupil. Mayor Felipe’s mind, heart and soul in public service transcend to the very core of political affairs. He started as a Chairman of Kabataang Barangay of Poblacion Anao, Tarlac where he became the Kabataang Barangay Federation President representing the youth sector in the Sangguniang Bayan as ex-officio member. His passion in serving the people did not end as a youth leader. He continued his will to serve as Municipal Councilor from 1988 to 1998. Following his three consecutive terms as a Municipal Councilor, he was appointed as the Municipal Mayor for three months. He may have taken a respite from government service for a while, but not in public service. Followed shortly his stint as a father of the town in 1998, Mayor Felipe was elected as a Board of Director of Tarlac Electric Cooperative (TARELCO 1) for Anao-Nampicuan district where he served from 1998 to 2001. After that, he became an Executive Assistant I at the Provincial Governor’s Office of Tarlac Province for a year. Serving his fellow Anaoeños is what he has always been aiming for. In 2004, he was again elected as a Municipal Councilor. Mayor Edgardo S. Felipe, once again, took his post as the father of the town of Anao when he won in the May 2007 National and Local Elections. Having been elected as the highest in position, Mayor Felipe is bent on discharging his duties with passion, commitment and sincerity. Equipped with values and principles that guide him in his daily undertakings, he is surely on the right track and on his way towards realizing his vision for his beloved town, ANAO.
