A mass wedding was sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Anao on September 4, 2009 held at the Municipal Covered Court wherein 24 lucky couples received the Sacrament of Matromony from the officiating priest Rev. Fr. Ricky Barayoga. Gov. Victor A. Yap, Mayor Edgardo S. Felipe, Vice Mayor Alberto P. Obena Sr., the Sangguniang Bayan Members with their partners were the principal sponsors or all the newlywed couples while the office heads served as secondary sponsors. Mrs. Liza Esteban and Mr. Alvin Butay served as commentator and reader respectively while the 4th year students of Anao High School with Mr. Theody Barroga as guitarist served as the choir for the wedding.

Free baptism and free legitimation for illegitimate children were also offered after the wedding. Couples also received gifts from Hon. Edagardo S. Felipe. Gov. Yap gave his congratulatory message to all the newlyweds and gave each couple a gift. In his message, he said that they have been attending many mass weddings before but not as prepared as the mass wedding organized by the LGU of Anao. He added that this only shows how Anao gives importance to human resource development. He also congratulated the organizers for a job well done. Each pair also had a photo opportunity with their ninongs and ninangs. Framed photo of each couple will also be given courtesy of Gov. Yap. Reception followed at the SB Session all for the newlyweds, guest and sponsors. Mrs. Evelyn Siobal, Municipal Registrar and main organizer of the event was very happy because all the efforts and time exerted in the preparations are worth it.
